Under general supervision, the professional planner will support planning and program administration activities for Wicomico County. The position will be responsible for the following planning related tasks and projects:
• Administer the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area (“CBCA”) Act, Forest Conservation Act (“FCA”), and related codes and programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: review, interpret, and communicate CBCA and FCA laws with the public, developers, and the building community; enforcement of CBCA and FCA codes for compliance, issuance of violations, and abatement of violations; and prepare and assist with code updates and amendments;
• Provide professional support to local environmental programs and initiatives, as well as County established boards and committees;
• Serve as the County representative on the Forestry Board;
• Prepare and present reports to the public, elected officials, appointed boards, and other governmental agencies;
• Obtain and manage grants, consultant contracts, and project / program budgets; and
• Performs related work as required.
